Neal B. Glickís practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, complex development and land use matters, commercial lending and loan servicing . In addition to representing developers, investors, and land owners in connection with a myriad of real estate transactions, Neal regularly represents a wide range of clients on land use and environmental matters. On behalf of a major commercial land owner he brought and successfully settled one of the most significant environmental disputes of recent history dealing with the Central Artery Project in Boston, Massachusetts. He also authored enabling legislation and helped bring about the design and construction of one of the largest waterfront parks in the Northeast. Neal has helped create historic environmental mitigation agreements for airport expansion between Massport, the City of Chelsea and local community groups. He has secured environmental permits for the developers of power generation facilities, advised a major utility on the remediation of contaminated properties, and represented several major construction lenders on the environmental permitting aspects of downtown Boston and suburban office and residential projects throughout Massachusetts. Neal also regularly advises individuals and community groups with respect to development issues involving land use and related environmental concerns, including Chapter 40B projects. He has represented local and national lenders on closings of countless construction and permanent loans ranging from major downtown office buildings to suburban retail facilities. His work for national loan servicers and commercial lenders involves consents, loan modifications, work outs, takings and foreclosures.
Prior to joining Swiggart & Agin, LLC, Neal was a Partner at a highly regarded Boston-based law firm where he chaired the Business Law Group. He also previously practiced as a real estate partner in the Boston office of a large national law firm, where he created and chaired the Environmental Practice Group He also served in Washington in the Office of General Counsel in the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Neal is a Trustee of the Boston Architectural College and served as a Member of the Planning Board in his hometown of Wellesley.
